Apple Maps Icon 3D

Summary

A 3D motion study of the Apple Maps app icon spinning and assembling through dynamic camera angles, showcasing glossy materials and vibrant color blocking.

Visual description

A glossy 3D app icon is shown tilted like a diamond on a pale gray background. Its rounded body is a map pattern of flat color blocks in green, hot pink, blue and yellow separated by white road bands. A raised white disc with a blue center and a white navigation arrow floats above the surface at the middle, and curved translucent arcs sit on the green block at the right. Lighting is soft and even, with subtle depth on the edges and a very small shadow.

Key takeaway

Build an icon as layered 3D slabs of flat color blocks with one raised central badge, which gives clear depth and a focal point while keeping the palette bright and simple.
