A colourway sheet for the Planted symbol, showing the same tree-in-a-circle mark six times on black in the full brand palette.
Visual description
Six roundels sit in two rows of three on a pure black field with even spacing. Each is a thin open circle enclosing a stylised conifer built from a tapered trunk that flares into a small flat base, a straight central spine and three pairs of rounded lobes stepping outward as they descend. Circle and tree are always the same colour with no fill behind them, so the black shows through the gaps. Reading left to right the colourways are lilac, lime, orange on the top row, then deep green, warm grey and lilac again on the bottom row. The bottom right roundel is drawn noticeably larger than the rest, breaking the otherwise regular grid.
Key takeaway
Showing the mark only in outline against black proves it works as a knockout at any colour, and the black gaps between the lobes become part of the drawing. The lobed conifer reads as a tree at thumbnail scale while staying geometric enough to double as a letterform elsewhere in the system.
Reuse notes
Useful as the symbol page of a guideline, or as a quick way to audition a palette against a mark before committing. The uneven sizing in the bottom right is a deliberate composition choice rather than a spec, so copy the idea and not the grid if you need a strict usage sheet. Only demonstrates behaviour on dark ground, so pair it with a light-ground equivalent.
